With regards to the representation of Christ, St. John of Damascus, the defender of Images, argued that it was right to represent Christ in human form because He became incarnate, He "became visible in the flesh."

COMMISSION AN ICON
Since I frequently
get requests for information about
the icons found on this site, I
thought it might be a good idea
to offer some information on commissioning
an icon. The original icons I create
are produced through the ancient
processes and canons of traditional
iconography using modern materials
such as acrylic paints and gold
leaf quality birch plywood. There
is no catalog of icons that are
available since most of my work
is created in response to a specific
request. If you have a specific
image in mind, providing a copy
would make the process simpler.
At the same time, I have some icons
in my studio that are already available,
the subjects and prices can be discussed
if you would email or call me. Icons
are usually painted on wooden panels
or canvas . These are usually 8"x10"
or 11"x14". Other shapes
and sizes are available. Naturally,
the more complex the materials and
preparation, the higher the price.
8"x10" $300.00 Single
11"x14" $450.00 Single
11"x14" $500.00 Two or
11"x14" $600.00 Festal
